Chandler, Ariz. – March 29, 2007 – Chandler-based ArmorWorks has received a contract from the United States Marine Corps for Enhanced Side Small Arms Protective Inserts (S-SAPI’s), protecting U.S. troops’ sides with ceramic and composite armor technology. The $5.6 million contract is for 14,000 sets of S-SAPI’s to be fulfilled by the end of 2007.
“We are happy that our life saving technology was selected by the U.S. Marines. Our main goal is protecting the soldier and delivering the highest quality products to our troops,” said Bill Perciballi, CEO and President of ArmorWorks. “We’re committed to continually developing new technologies and advancements in armor protection. This recent contract helps to solidify ArmorWorks’ role in the protection of our troops.”
The S-SAPI’s use the same advanced armor technologies as the ArmorWorks Small Arms Protective Inserts (SAPIs), and are made for the Interceptor body armor system.
ArmorWorks was previously awarded two Indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contracts for S-SAPI in September 2006 totaling over $33 million. ArmorWorks currently supplies the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Marine Corps with body armor and aircraft armor. The company is also supplying its lightweight add-on armor kits for trucks and HMMWVs to protect these vehicles against improvised explosive devices and other enemy threats.
