ArmorWorks given $30M body armor contract The U.S. Defense Logistic Agency has awarded Tempe-based ArmorWorks a contract worth nearly $30 million.

ArmorWorks will produce and deliver Kevlar inserts worn by troops to protect against small arms fire.
The company's goods will be shipped to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Arizona Congressman J.D. Hayworth announced the award, because ArmorWorks is located with his Fifth Congressional District.

Since its creation in 1996, ArmorWorks has produced more than 12,000 ceramic armor components for a variety of personnel armor, aircraft, and vehicle applications.
