Lands $500 Million Deal

Tempe-based
ArmorWorks has received a multiyear, U.S. Department of Defense
delivery order that represents about $500 million in ceramic
body armor plate production for U.S. troops worldwide.
The company
manufactures military body, aircraft, vehicle and energy-absorbing
armor systems.
The indefinite
delivery/ indefinite quantity contracts are for ceramic plates
that are inserted into the front and back pockets of protective
vests, and provide protection against bullets and shrapnel.
"We
are pleased to provide our military with the finest production
available," Bill Perciballi, ArmorWorks president and
CEO, said in a statement.
"Thanks
to the continued efforts of our dedicated employees, these
contracts secure our position as the leading small arms protective
inserts supplier to the U.S. military."
The company
wasnt available for additional information. Earlier
this year, Armor-Works was awarded a contract valued at $9.2
million to supply deployed Air Force personnel with protective
ceramic armor plates.
Also,
it was awarded a contract to supply Marines with protective
armor vest inserts.
That contract is valued at $5.85 million.
ArmorWorks
also is supplying its Humvee Ballistic Advantage Armor Kits
to the military to protect vehicles against improvised explosive
devices and other enemy threats. ArmorWorks was founded in
1996.
