September 14, 2006 – ArmorWorks,
a leading provider of advanced armor products based in Tempe,
Ariz.,
today announced from the “Modern Day Marine”
exhibition in Quantico, Va., that the company will receive the
national Tibbetts Award for technology excellence.
This national award, presented by the U.S.
Small Business Administration, recognizes the very best in
Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR). ArmorWorks is one
of 55 companies in the U.S. to receive this award and was
selected from the over 4,000 companies that receive contracts
and grants under the SBIR program each year. The company will
accept the award on September 26 in Washington, D.C.
“In only two years time we took technology from
the laboratory to delivery of advanced composite armor
products to our troops in harm’s way,” said Bill Perciballi,
president and founder of ArmorWorks. “We recently celebrated
ArmorWorks’ tenth anniversary. This award recognizes the
achievements of the ArmorWorks team and our dedication to
developing life-saving technology.”
ArmorWorks used SBIR funding to develop
innovative technologies such as a high-performance composite
armor. ArmorWorks advanced composite armor technology is
already commercialized and in production for body armor,
vehicle armor, and aircraft armor used by all branches of the
U.S. Military.
