ArmorWorks to team with U.S.
Army TACOM
Ground Systems Industrial Enterprise
Tempe,
Arizona March 31, 2005
ArmorWorks of
Tempe, Arizona announces it has signed a Basic Order Agreement
(BOA) with U.S. Army TACOM Ground Systems Industrial
Enterprise (GSIE) to manufacture and assemble vehicle armor
that will protect U.S. troops and military vehicles in
combat.
ArmorWorks is one of the largest
manufacturers of advanced armor systems in the U.S. and a
major supplier to the Department of Defense of ceramic and
composite individual protective and vehicle armor. They
supply the Small Armor Protective Inserts (SAPI) body armor
plate which is being purchased in large quantities for the
U.S. Army and Marine Corps.
It is a natural fit for the two
organizations to team together, states Bill Perciballi CEO
and founder of ArmorWorks. To date each of our organizations
has been at the forefront of providing unparalleled ballistic
protection to our service men and women. This is just another
example of how the U.S. Army continues to proactively identify
ways to protect its soldiers.
The GSIE is
responsible for the oversight and management of Army
installations and Depots that are producing add on armor to
protect vehicles which were not designed or previously
required to be protected against small arms and Improvised
Explosive Device (IED) attacks. Combined ArmorWorks and GSIE
have produced over 14,000 HMMWV add on armor kits, resulting
in countless saved lives.
