Armorworks awarded multi-MIllion dollar contract FOR AIRCRAFT
ARMOR
TEMPE, AZ – November 15, 2004 –
ArmorWorks announces receipt
of a contract valued at up to $5 million for an aircraft armor
engineering and production effort for the U.S. Navy.
ArmorWorks will design, develop and manufacture lightweight
composite armor panels for the CH-46E aircraft in support of
the light weight armor replacement system for the Marine Corps
medium helicopter fleet.
ArmorWorks advanced armor
products will be replacing the existing steel armor on the
entire CH-46E fleet; providing the USMC CH-46 fleet
significant weight reduction savings. This weight savings
directly equates to greater cargo capabilities and a cost
savings delta due to less fuel consumption. ArmorWorks was
selected on the basis of their superior value in technology
and price.
ArmorWorks is currently the
leading manufacture of SAPI (Small Arms Protective Insert)
plates and ceramic composite vehicle armor systems for the
military. This contract award is a significant step in their
efforts to gain increased exposure in aircraft armor
protection. “This further strengthens ArmorWorks position as
the leader in armor technology. Our employee’s hard work and
commitment continue to lay the groundwork for our continued
success,” said ArmorWorks President Bill Perciballi.
