Phoenix Business Journal

A Tempe-based
defense contractor has been awarded a $5.8 million Pentagon
contract to supply extra armor for U.S. Marines serving in
Iraq.
ArmorWorks
will provide extra armor for protective vests worn by
Marines. Scottsdale Congressman J.D. Hayworth announced the
Defense Department award on Tuesday.
The hope
is that the extra protection will help reduce causalities
from small arms fire in the Iraqi theater.
The Pentagon
has initiated several contracts of late to add armor plating
to vehicles and convoys targeted by Iraqi insurgents, snipers
and terrorists.
